4 Bases Grading – The Standard for Precision & Integrity in Card Grading

At 4 Bases Grading (4BG), we take pride in delivering a consistent, transparent, and trustworthy grading experience for collectors. Our grading process is designed to provide an accurate assessment of your sports, gaming, and collectible trading cards, ensuring they are evaluated with precision and fairness.

Our Grading Scale & Criteria

Each card submitted to 4 Bases Grading undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection, where we analyze four key factors ensuring the most comprehensive evaluation possible:

1. Centering – We assess the alignment of the card’s front and back, measuring margins for balance. A perfect 50/50 centering is ideal, but we account for industry-standard tolerances.

2. Corners – We inspect corner sharpness and wear. Gem Mint cards will have perfectly crisp corners with no fraying or whitening.

3. Edges – We analyze edge integrity, looking for chipping, dents, or factory cuts that may affect the card’s grade.

4. Surface – We examine the card under high-intensity lighting and magnification to detect scratches, print lines, indentations, and other flaws.

4BG Grading Scale

Our grading scale provides a clear, objective representation of a card’s condition:

• Pristine 10 (4BG Pristine) – Virtually flawless with perfect centering, no visible defects under magnification, and superior eye appeal.

• Gem Mint 10 – Nearly perfect; minor flaws only visible under extreme magnification.

• Mint 9 – Sharp card with slight imperfections, such as minor print issues or faint edge wear.

• Near Mint-Mint 8 – Excellent condition with minor signs of handling or factory imperfections.

• Near Mint 7 – Light wear visible, such as small corner dings or slight surface flaws.

• Excellent 6 – Noticeable wear, minor creases, or edge chipping.

• Lower Grades (5-1) – Cards with increasing signs of wear, creases, stains, or other damage, but still valuable to collectors.
